Wasps nest

It looks like we have a wasps nest in our shed, is there any safe way to get rid of it ourselves?
I had a look at Rentokils website and it quoted me 222 pounds!
The nest looks like it is inside a box of old toys at the back of the shed.

Yeah I wouldn't.. they're evil buggers when you disturb a nest and a cloud of angry wasps isn't something I would want to set loose. Even if I could get back into the house some poor bugger nearby with a pram may not be able to for eg.

I wouldn't. We had one once. £50 very well spent to fet rid of it.
Shop around for a better price

ask your council for recommendations if you are on benefits or live on a pension you wont have to pay either.

We had one and called the council who recommended someone - I think it ended up costing about £80. After he'd removed it, he told me that if we'd waited until Autumn all the wasps would leave the nest and not come back - then we'd have been able to take it down safely by ourselves.

It was a few years ago and my memory's a bit vague, but if it's not bothering you it might be worth doing a bit of research to see if this is correct, waiting to winter, and dealing with it yourself. Please do the research first, though!

Thanks, we aren't on benefits but I will phone the council for advice anyway :)
