Mortgage arrangement fees - what did you pay?

Can I be nosy & ask what MA fees you paid (if any) for a recent mortgage. We are at the stage of putting in our final application to the bank through our IFA & he mentioned that the arrangement fee was c.£1500. That seems high to me (although it does include the fee that the bank pays him) - we also have to pay the survey cost & the IFA's admin fee of £200 on top of this. Just wanted to get a general impression of how does this compare to others?

£999 to the lender. Went direct so no adviser costs.

Doesn't seem too excessive if you are are bagging a decent rate. I know with my recent re-mortage for example a 0.2% (i.e. 1.99 to 2.19) increase in rate dropped the fee. Just depends how much you are borrowing for and the duration of any deal on whether it is worth it or not.

None, was an arrangment fee free mortgage

Our mortgage company calculated whether it would be worth paying a mortgage fee to get a better rate, but as the amount we want to borrow is low compared to others, they calculated it wasn't worth us paying one.

Never paid one.

try London& country mortgage broker.

Aberchips · 22/05/2014 14:32

We're getting between 3.05 - 4.68% depending on the length of time we fix the rate for on a mortgage of c.£515k. Arrangement fee is the same whatever rate we go for.

None

MrsJohnDeere · 22/05/2014 15:00

Didn't

Arranged mortgage direct with our bank

BumWad · 22/05/2014 19:40

£99 to reserve mortgage and £230 valuation fee which was with nationwide. Wasn't worth our while paying £999 for the lower rate mortgages

treehousethunderstorm · 22/05/2014 21:19

None, just the £275 valuation fee.

lessonsintightropes · 23/05/2014 18:26

£999 - we paid a one off fee to our mortgage broker when we bought a few years ago which covers everything. Valuation is £500. Is with Accord though and we got a three year fix at 2.24% on 80% LTV so was worth it in comparison to what we would have paid on a no fee mortgage at a higher rate.
