And walls?
I'm dithering. The builder favours travatine but I really don't want a brown bathroom.
Thanks

Lol I thought this was a housekeeping thread - was just about to post 'my pyjamas!'. In reality we have oak floorboards sealed with a Matt polyurethane sealer, I love it.

How many socks are on your bathroom floor PigletJohn??? Wink

DotToDott · 22/05/2014 09:11

That horrid dimpley flooring with sparkley flecks through it that they have in hospitals.

It was put in for a disabled woman who lived here before me and i can't afford to do anything with it.

springbabydays · 22/05/2014 09:12

Oak look laminate flooring, white glossy tiles and biscuit colour paint. Brown shades look great in a bathroom (makes a change from blue, pink etc which I see everywhere) and you can offset lighter ones with chocolate coloured towels, mats etc. We had a lot of compliments on the colours.

higgle · 22/05/2014 09:15

washed oak effect Karndean planks, looks nice, very easy to care for.
We just hae some large greyish tiles on the walls tht came with the house, they look OK but ot my choice.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 22/05/2014 09:19

Stone tile effect vinyl flooring (matt, non-slip, warm finish). Sort of light biscuit colour. Not much floor though, as it's a small room. Bath panel and vanity are light wood (maple). Walls are off white tiles with turquoise mosaic accents / borders, the painted part of the walls is a light blue toning with the tiles. It's about 12 years old. Probably looks dated now, but I like it.

We stay in a holiday home every year which is all brown and travertine and I don't like it, I find it quite dull and gloomy. There's no natural light though, just spotlights, which probably makes a difference.

Granite tiles in a white/light shade - beautiful but expensive.
I am a fan of vinyl and would definitely consider it - eg Altro or similar. Not the industrial look you can get some that are hard wearing but look amazing.
Also, we previously had some very dark flooring on our bathroom floor - it looked horrid - even though most of the room was white.

minipie · 22/05/2014 11:51

Floorboards

Bright green rubber

Neither my choice!

middleagedspread · 22/05/2014 11:54

Thanks all.
We've got to have tiles of some sort, something to do with the shower tray.
I love the look of granite but I thought it was a no-no in bathrooms MrsTP?

Procelain tiles. Dark grey. Love them. They never feel cold and it doesn't matter what is dropped on them, they don't mark or chip.

middleagedspread · 22/05/2014 14:07

What do you have on the walls LadyK?

We have dark grey large rectangular tiles, look here
www.toppstiles.co.uk/tprod2909/section1179/Zamora-Grey-Wall-and-Floor-Tile-148x60cm.html. They look very smart and go well with our large shiny white wall tiles and pink mosaic border. I agree, I am also not too keen on brown bathrooms which you find in all new developments. All a bit samey samey.

StraddlingTheFence · 22/05/2014 14:18

We just had vinyl laid in our new bathroom. I know not everyone is a fan, but I'm not a huge fan of tiles, floorboards weren't an option and there was carpet down when we moved in.

We went for a plain design (I wanted vinyl that looks like vinyl, not wood/tile/etc, although I did see some very authentic looking faux wood version)

Ours is off white which takes a bit more cleaning than patterned, but looks very fresh and feels lovely underfoot.

Germgirl · 22/05/2014 14:21

We have slate on the floor & large grey tiles on the walls. Dark grey on 2 walls & light grey on the others.
My bathroom looks a bit industrial tbh. Rather a lot of grey.

LadyKooKoo · 22/05/2014 15:01

Exactly the same tile on the walls but it is an off white colour instead of the dark grey. We have dark purple 'accents' as DH puts it. Free standing bath so dark purple curtain that goes all the way round it, dark purple mat and towels etc. I love it. It is the first bathroom I have had that doesn't have blue or green in sight and have never lived in a new build (or know anyone that does actually) so had no idea that brown bathrooms were the norm. I have had vinyl flooring before but always found that it lost its shape around the edges and sort of bubbled up!

LadyKooKoo · 22/05/2014 15:02

Wall tiles are only on one wall, the others are painted.

SarcyMare · 22/05/2014 15:10

this, and this, but not that bath.
but the floor is textured to make it non-slip that means the only way i can get it properly clean is with a scrubbing brush.

Ooh imme , we've been looking at those sort of tiles for our bathroom. Hope you don't mind me asking a few questions Blush What colour grout do you have? Are the tiles cold? Slippy? Are they easy to clean? We need to make a decision v. quick but I'm so scared of making the wrong one and regretting it!
