Fat splashes - fat proof paint (?) or other solution?

We had our kitchen redone about a year ago - including a new surround for the Aga that has tiles across the back. However, the painted sides of the surround have already been completely covered in fat splashes and I can't get them off.

They look disgusting and we are looking for a solution. I don't want to tile all around the surround, as the tiles at the back are a great feature but it would be too much to have that many of them. I'm just not sure of an alternative to keep the paint clean - can you get fat proof paint? Some sort of clear perspex or similar cover for the walls? If anyone has any bright ideas please let me know...

you might consider "wallpapering" using a glossy vinyl. You can scrub it (if the seams lift, you can use a special adhesive) and it is particularly easy to strip off and replace when you get bored of it.

Personally I would have gone for tiles, perhaps in a different colour.

Do away with the frying pan and boil, steam or poach everything?

Go to B&q as I have bought special paint to cover damp marks that show though paint there might be one for grease.

I saw one of those uber-minimalist houses in Living etc. magazine a few months ago - all polished concrete floors and such. Anyway, it said that their kitchen splashback was painted with exterior masonry paint. Could that work? I think they had got it mixed in some strange chartreuse colour, not sure if B and Q do that! Certainly waterproof, don't know about fat-proof.

b and q colours kitchen and bathroom paint. have in my kitchen including around range cooker. just wipes clean and for heavy stains washing up liquid and hot water cleans it. my kitchen still looks fresh and clean after 3 years.

Glass splashbacks?

I have used Dulux Endurance Plus paint either side of my glass splashback behind cooker, and it's holding up really well to being washed down to remove fat etc marks. Recommend it.
