Moving in 6 weeks - is there a guide?

Just that really. I just googled to see if there was a guide and all of the sites were US based about checking health care stuff etc. I haven't moved in a really long time. I know it involves more than just putting things into boxes in one place and then taking them out in another. There must be some things I could do before the move that will make the process easier, just, um, what are they? Anyone have any guidance to offer or know of a good website?

look on reallymoving.com, lots of info there.

get decluttering now - this is the big thing. Get boxes and packing materials if packing yourself.

if you have exchanged and so are definitely moving, get your post office redirect setup for 3 months from the day you move. The urgent things to change (for the day) are car insurance, utilities (take meter readings at both properties) and organise phone/broadband. Do all the rest ASAP after moving.

I'd suggest you pack a suitcase as if you were going on holiday for a few days. This way, if you can't unpack everything then you will be able to "survive" for a couple of days whilst you unpack!

That's a good idea Ginger, I've just started a list including "curtains" for the bedroom as we already know there won't be any!

Good suggestion of bag/suitcase for everyone.

I pretend we are going on a caravan holiday so pack bag of toiletries and box of kitchen bits - tea, tea towel, mugs, kettle, biscuits etc

We are aiming to complete in June so will have a look at reallymoving.com

Thank you both for those links! I've had a long read and now have a really good guide.
