Do you have stone in your bathroom floor? Please tell me about it.

We are renovating two bathrooms and I've only just starting researching the details.

I really like flagstone type stone or something similar, but no clue as to which type would be suitable/pleasant/non-slippery for a bathroom.

What do you have and are you pleased with it?

We do. I think it's flagstone. It's lovely and easy to clean.

We have slate floor, already in when we bought it. Looks lovely but ......if you get a leak it's a nightmare! I've had a leaky sink we've just replaced in the hope that will fix it. It's hard to tell though as we can't get to the floor! Grrr.

Watching with interest.
I love a stone bathroom floor but wonder if it would be cold, unless you have UFH?

We had some sort of limestone/travertine in our previous bathroom. Honed but not polished, so not too slippery.

It looked and felt lovely but some water got behind some of the tiles and the stone started to flake away (called spalling I think). Total pain and wouldn't have happened with ceramic tiles. Same thing has happened with my parents' limestone kitchen floor so clearly not a one off.

There's some very good "stone lookalike" tiles these days, I'd probably go with one of those...
