Gloss kitchen doors, are they dust collectors?

We have a few door samples sitting around the house trying to make a final decision on kitchen choice.

So, we thought we had the perfect pair, we are having a run of matt white on both short walls and a kitchen island in a berry gloss.

However, two of the gloss samples and a matt sample have been on my coffee table in the living room and the gloss doors are filthy with dust. It seems almost like a static pull like on a black tv? I clean them but hours later and the same happens. The house is a bit dusty at the moment as work has started but it is so noticeable just on these doors.

Does anyone who has a gloss kitchen have any experience of this? I really don't want to have to dust every few hoursnot that I would really. The dust is more noticeable on the dark colour but there is a grey which is just as covered.

Or am i just a dirty mare and need to dust more?

We have cream high gloss units. Not dust magnets despite the name ! I think it's because they are smooth all the way down (old oak effect ones had ridges/carved bit which collected dust).

We had black high gloss units in our past property and they were dust magnets. Possibly not helped by the colour.

Glossed woodwork shouldn't attract dust anymore than any other finish. As you said, you're having work done at the mo' so it's the dust in the air that's causing the problem. DP put up new ceiling in our kitchen and the dust gathered for a fortnight afterwards. It will be the air for a few days yet .

Thanks for your replies, I'm wondering whether it's because I have the samples lay flat. I will stand them up and see if it's any better and move them to another room. I'm just worried about making an expensive mistake.

We have gloss and don't have a problem. They are easy to wipe down but don't need frequent cleaning

Fingerprint magnets more like

We have a white gloss kitchen and it is really easy to keep clean. I think dark gloss colours are trickier, because they show up all the smears from the cloth.

We got a white gloss kitchen installed about a month ago. I am amazed and how clean it stays. No dust and minimal fingerprints.

White gloss here, so easy to keep clean as nothing seems to "sick". Friend on the other hand has dark red and hers show finger prints. So I think if you are going for gloss a light colour is better.

Cream gloss here, fantastic - would be better still if I could get dh to use the door handles but you can't have everything! Def NOT dust collectors.
