I have a three seater Thomas Lloyd and need to upgrade as have more space and old sofa looks odd. DD soon to be 3 and has more hectic social life than me, so needs to be washable. Hoping to spend under £1k but will do thereabouts for quality, as hoping to get ££ for my old one.

All suggestions welcome - have looked on ebay local and nowt there for now kicks herself for missing out on one a month before our move that went for £400!

IKEA? Lots have washable covers

Lioninthesun · 05/05/2014 16:10

They seem to be the only place I can find. Do they last with kids jumping on them? Will have another look and see if they deliver.

Ideally I'd love one similar to this, which I hear are also washable www.potterybarn.com/products/solano-slipcovered-2-piece-sectional/?pkey=csolano-sofas&cm_src=solano-sofas||NoFacet--NoFacet---_-

Yes they do last we gave a cheap one for the kitchen and I was impressed. They wash fine as well ive been eyeing up the ektorp one. You can always spend what you save by going on ebay and getting a really lovely non ikea cover . They sell them bespoke .

I'd go with IKEA mostly because you can get extra covers which really increases the lifespan of your sofa.
It is far too pricey to get most sofas recovered but the extra sets for IKEA ranges are reasonable even the bespoke ones.

ektorp is fab, have had for yrs and have replaced covers numerous times as I get bored easily
the ektorp isn't massive though, not as big as the Pottery barn one I don't think

And karlstad

Lioninthesun · 05/05/2014 18:32

Ooh I like the sound of the bespoke covers! I am looking at the Erktop at the moment so that is around the price I was hoping for. Just worried the foam seat cushions look a little thin?

HAving looked at your link, Karlstad is more similar in style.

Lioninthesun · 05/05/2014 19:52

It is, although I am a little worried about things going under the sofa. I like the idea of there being no room for things to get lost and dust bunnies to accumulate!

Yes know what you mean although its easy to get a hoover under it.
Of you could change the legs to bun feet.

Lioninthesun · 05/05/2014 21:19

Would that not mean the whole sofa was really low?

There is always room for stuff to get lost under the sofa. At least with a bit of extra clearance you can see it to poke it out.

Pannacotta · 05/05/2014 21:44

You can get tall-ish bun feet but the Karlstad legs are a bit too tall anyway I think and not very stylish.
But I do think its easier to clean under than other, lower sofas (well I find it so anyway).
