Ideas for splashback

We are having a new kitchen installed and just trying to figure out what splashback to get.

The kitchen will have pale grey units with oak worktops and stainless steel appliances. The walls will be painted white. We have oak flooring (not sure if relevant).

We are considering either stainless steel or something more interesting like this recycled glass splashback in artic white here

But also as the kitchen is going to be fairly pale we could do something totally out there and different but wondered if there are any ideas that we are missing. I'm not that keen on having a glass spashback in a bright colour as a block of colour or tiles with grout that will need cleaning.

Thought the wisdom of mumsnet might come up with something we haven't thought of!

We have a glass splashback and I love it. Really reflective and easy to clean. I think the arctic white would be fab against your stainless steel!

You could just have a glass panel behind the hob and glass tiles elsewhere. I have glass subway tiles which I love. I haven't had a problem with the grout getting dirty. I did seal them with something but I can't remember what.

Have a good look at the bottle alley splash backs. We considered them for a worksurface but decided against as the surface isn't smooth - but rather pitted and I worried they would get dirty. I went along to some juice bars where they have fitted the worktops (in London) and they hadn't worn well. They are however completely beautiful!! You can get glass splash backs in any colour - I got F&b stone blue. I've also seen mirror used to good effect just make sure it doesn't reflect dodgy under cabinet wiring

We have a pale grey kitchen and the splash back is mini grey subway shaped (oblong) mosaic tiles, just darker than our units, goes from the worktop up to the top cupboards. Tiles are 2 inches by 1 inch high. It was all here when we moved in but we love it.

Where are you having your splashbacks? We couldn't decide on what to do as we went for a granite worktop with an upstand and I couldn't imagine how a splashback would look on top of that. Then our kitchen designer pointed out that, as we had the hob in the peninsular, we could be brave and not have one behind the sink.

Looks fab and I haven't regretted not having tiles or splashbacks at all.

Ah good question. We are having oak upstands and the splashback behind the job only
