Best place to live in Norwich

Hi,
I'm moving to Norwich near Norfolk & Norwich hospital and Hellesdon hospital. I'm viewing some properties in Dereham road, new costessey; harrier close, hethersett; Norwich road, new costessey; little Melton; blyth's wood avenue, costessey. I would be ever so grateful for any information on which area would be best & any that you would advise to avoid among them. Mainly looking from family perspective as I have 3 & 5 years old children.
Many thanks.

Hethersett gets highly praised by many. Better transport links into the city than many when your Dc get older.

Little Melton a bit far out for me, and horrible traffic when an event is on at the show grounds.

New Costessy is mixed & I wouldn't leap at it. Dereham Road can be busy, is main thing.

If you need to be near N+N a lot of people would go out Wymondham way, if you can afford it. hth.

Costessey definitely wouldn't be my first choice in Norwich, I have to admit.

The 'Golden Triangle' area around / between Unthank and Earlham Rd is absolutely lovely and where I would aim to live if I moved back to Norwich with my family. It is studenty too, especially if you are directly on Unthank, but it's a very friendly neighbourhood and everyone seemed to manage fine togetherGrin

I wouldn't choose Dereham Road or anything that side of New Costessey but Old Costessey is good

Posted too soon....

Blyths Wood Ave is in Queens Hills which is about 2 miles from the rest of Costessey and has no newsagents, corner shop etc

I think Little Melton has a good primary school.

The back road from Hethersett to Colney is a narrow rat run - looks tempting to cycle but very dangerous.

Hethersett is an overgrown village - has quite a few shops and pubs - quite a big community - not really rural. Little Melton on the other hand is much more rural.

Under no circumstances consider Bowthorpe. Unless it's gone considerably upmarket recently!

Oh I miss Norwich Sad

Thank you so much everyone. One of us will be working at Hellesdon hospital & another is at N & N hospital so we wanted to live in between. But after your suggestions I think I am taking costessey out of my list. Got 3 properties to view in hethersett and planning to view some in eaton. How about Greenacres in little Melton, Kingswood close in eaton? I feel I'm going for hethersett but will come back for advice before putting an offer hopefully next week.

How about Drayton or Taverham? Straight road to Hellesdon hospital and you can cut through Costessey to N&N

Hi,
I'm likely to go ahead with Cringeleford but the property is slightly in a bit of distance from school. Would anybody advise NR1 2PW post code HallRoad in Norwich? Is it a good place to live? I heard most schools are not so good? I really liked the property we went to view there but not sure of the place. Any help Would be greatly appreciated.

Hall Road is very close to a "Good" High School but I don't know about infant/juniors around there - I think you might be looking at Cavell which has been in the news for the wrong reasons - here Hall Road's a bit varied - from nice to less nice and back again.

Agree that Eaton and Cringleford are lovely. But remember Norwich is relatively small - getting from one side to the other isn't a massive problem, so don't get too bogged down by location.
