Extension Window Conundrum

We are building a 2 storey extension on the side of our detached 30s’s property. This gives us the opportunity of having a room with double aspect windows on the front and side which is fantastic especially as the side is west facing and we are a corner plot.

However planning constraints mean that the window on the front has to match the front mock tudor style and so is very tall – within 30cm of ceiling height. However the side window is not allowed higher than a standard door height.

Outside its not much of an issue visually, but I’m worried about the inside. We will have two windows with different heights – not sure how to hide that or to make curtains/blinds work without making it look like a giant measuring mistake! I don’t want to cut the side window as the light through it will be superb. Any thoughts about how to mitigate this inside would be welcome!

I'd have roman blinds, I don't think it would look odd at all. We have 2 big windows in the kitchen at slightly different heights and have done the same thing - as long as the fabric is the same, I think it will just look "matched" if you see what I mean, regardless of the different shapes / heights of the windows.

You could try dressing them very differently within the same colour scheme, so that each window has a personality of its own, giving the impression that they are intentionally different.
