Should I rip out the laminate flooring do you think? It was put down by previous owner so I'm not invested in it. Will the tiles be significantly colder? House is 1930s-ish and should mention the Hall is not big, just a step over the front door to the stairs effort.

I was so hoping they might be in the kitchen as well but I've removed a kickboard and it just seems to be lino and then concrete (under the sink unit).

the tiles will not be much bit colder, but the reason they have been covered up might be because they are worn or cracked, or partly dug out and patched (the cold water pipe may run under the hall).

So don't rip up the laminate before you are in a position, if necessary, to put down something else.

Thanks Piglet. Sound advice, I think I've just got a bit giddy. DH is a bit exasperated at my poking around the floors.
