I like the colour range, but online reviews keep saying its coverage is poor, it's patchy and hard to apply Confused

Any experiences and would you recommend it?

Used it once, and it was very nice. Great colour, good coverage. it was over a very small area though (panelling behind loo).

MairzyDoats · 18/04/2014 23:28

Only used it once about 5 years ago but I thought it went on brilliantly. Admittedly the formula might have changed since then.

Funnily enough, just painted with it tonight. Seemed lovely. Will let you know how it dries!!! And Homebase stock it, 15% off this weekend.

Painted the whole house last year, lovely to paint with, but just make sure nobody touches it afterwards as it marks easily. I have finger print marks around the light switches which I have tried to wipe and the the paintwork has come away.Hmm

I used it on my kitchen about two years ago. I really like it. In fact will be going to homebase this weekend and stocking up on some more!:-)

My mother did her whole house with it. The colours are lovely but its not even wipeable. Anywhere that she tried to clean a mark left an even bigger mark. I like a paint that I can scrub.

MairzyDoats · 19/04/2014 15:39

Yes...that is true actually. Our living room was filthy by the time we redecorated. Probably not great for high traffic areas.

hiddenhome · 19/04/2014 16:22

We tend to just paint over marks.

Can anybody recommend anything that has nice, matt, Classic colours, but that's wipeable?

We have the duck egg eggshell version on our kitchen cupboards. They get a lot of abuse and cleaning - the paint seems to be fine. However, we last painted them about 3 years ago, so the formula may have changed.

livingthegoodlife · 19/04/2014 21:07

we have laura ashley duck egg matt - never noticed it marking particularly. i thought it went on fine.

my favourite brand is Fired Earth paint, we have the wipeable version in our kitchen and it amazing. prefer it to F&B.

i would use laura ashley again though.

MairzyDoats · 19/04/2014 21:28

Ooh yeah, Fired Earth is brilliant.

Sunnyshores · 20/04/2014 12:24

I found LA paint patchy (cant remember what exact colour, pale green). I dont particularly like F&B either. Fired Earth is lovely, but a great budget alternative is Wickes chalky coulours. Limited range, but I love wolf.

Apparently the Laura Ashley paint in Homebase is different to the paint in the Laura Ashley stores. I was buying some in a Laura Ashley concession in our local Homebase and mentioned buying another tin from downstairs in Homebase and the girl said that they are different. No idea how! I have Laura Ashley in my bedroom and it is nice. Not a high traffic area though.

mandy214 · 20/04/2014 13:50

I'm not sure thats right Cider - Homebase and Laura Ashley stock different colours / sizes but the paint itself is the same I think.

CiderwithBuda · 20/04/2014 16:41

I have to say I was surprised mandy214 but she assured me that was the case. It could be just colours and sizes I suppose.

SilverSixpence · 20/04/2014 16:44

We have it in our kitchen, had to repaint a wall in matt as the kitchen paint was very shimmery and shiny! Otherwise it is fine
