need advice so all advice will be welcome also im in Scotland

ive been on the local council waiting list for a house since I was 16 now 30 with a 10yr old. cause the council wasn't doing anything to get me a house as I was still living at home I had 2 options go homeless- which my mum wasn't going to do or get a sublet-which I didn't think I could afford
got the money together last year for a sublet and kept looking for a place the flat I seen was to far from my parents as I need to be near one my mum watches my daughter while I work evenings plus I help out with my dad durning the day as he was diagnosed with lung cancer in oct 2013
the only other property at the time I seen was a house(which im in just now) so went for it as places round the area im in go quick and rarely appear
moved in in jan 2014 and things were up and down what with being my first move but now im stressed due to money worries feel like ive no money to do anything almost starting to think I cant afford this house
got a meeting with housing officer tomorrow then got a meeting with the money matters team at the council to help with my money worries

question is should I stick with this place for just now and get help with the money etc or do I go homeless(which I really don't want to do or move back home) reason for not going home is don't think I could live there and watch my dad get more ill get let my girl see that as well
thinking a place that's not high rent might be best as mines £550 just now get HB so I pay about £250 which is a lot even when ive got other bills to pay
thanks for reading and anything you want to know just ask x

I'm assuming you're in a privately-rented property just now, and that your landlord knows what s/he's doing. In that case, you have an initial tenancy agreement of 6 months, so if you only moved in in January you're contractually obliged to stay there and pay rent till July, unless you can get your landlord to terminate early. Looking round for cheaper properties would be a good idea, just to get an idea of what's generally available.

You might also like to look at where the rest of your money goes. What can you cut back on?

yes its a private rented house and im assuming they know what they are doing as its through a letting agent still waiting on repairs etc

ive got a meeting with some people that help with money etc not till the 9th of may though

How did the meeting with the housing folk go?

To help with money management, make a note every time you spend it, of how much and on what. You'll soon see where cuts can begin to be made; maybe you spend too much on "treats" for your dd, or the odd magazine/coffee when out and about? It all adds up.
