Building valuation survey - what will they inform purchaser about?

Just had our purchaser's building society valuer around and he said he was attending property for building society valuation purposes. I can't believe they've had a 20 minute survey done on a property which is 60-70 years old.

Will he just inform building society it's (hopefully suitable) for their loan, or does he make comments on anything which needs doing?

Only the very obvious , which would affect resale/valuation ie roof, possible subsidence and advise to check that things like electrics are up to current specifications.

It is a valuation survey. They may have a structural survey done separately. This survey is to tell the lenders that the property is worth their liability on the property, not much more! I am surprised they even called in for 20 minutes. These are usually done as they zoom by in a car!! Os so the story goes!

We just had a valuation done on our property as we had a builder friend (who'd previously done a course on surveying) to spend approx. 90 mins with us at the property walking around and checking various points with us. The valuation did pick up there was a crack in the front elevation which was believed to be old and nothing to worry about. Our friend was nervous about confirming this, so we did get a survey done on just that element. Turned out it was due to thermal movement (common in older properties), was thought to be old and hasn't changed.

Our friend by the way picked up electrics may have been old, roof may not last longer than 10 years and fascia board had seen better days in one place.
