How much should I expect to pay electrician to fit a chandelier?

Hi

I've called an electrician recommended to me by a friend who will be coming over tomorrow to give me a quote. I need two lights fitted one in my living room (chandelier) the other in my bedroom (flush ceiling light). How much should I expect to pay the electrician. Or in other words how much is too much?! (We live in SE London).

30 pounds an hour

My electrician charges 70 if both first and 2nd fixing is needed and 40 quid if just first fix. He lives around the corner though so there isn't far for him to go. I live in SE London too- Dulwich

My guy charges £20 a light fitting in Bedford but would expect £40 an hour in London, 2 light fittings an hour so prob the same.

how high are ceilings? what's there already in terms of fittings? Does he need to hire a tower?
I paid £150 including the tower and they earned every penny (needed two of them)

My ceilings are 11 ft high and he uses a ladder! Theses aren't small either- one is the arctic pear from ochre

£100 per day or £40 per hour for a qualified electrician to work in a home in the South East are really low rates.
In our business we pay the electricians who work for us more than that.
After (s)he has paid business running costs and income tax they will be left with very little to live on.
Of course you may get a very good rate from a friend or neighbour.

Those are per fixture not per hour
