Does Dulux Light + Space work?

I have a hall, stairs and landing that are quite dark. Thay get a little natural light but not much. Is it worth spending the money on Dulux Light + Space paint? Or is it a waste of money and I would do just as well with a light trade paint and a mirror?

Basically, does this paint do what it says on the tin?

Thanks.

Hergrace - sounds perfect - what did you use?

(as soon as the sun comes out I'm doing our hallway.)

It defintiely works but isn't hard wearing

sadonherbehalf · 03/03/2014 15:01

we haven't had any noticeable success with it. We used it initially in a dark study, after 3 coats no different to any other pale paint. Gave it another chance in dining room, but still no obvious difference to the satin emulasion paint that we had used previously

The thing is it does need light to work so I think it is a bit misleading to think it works eg in a windowless room etc. It makes a room with light lighter as it bounces off the particles of reflective pigment in the paint but it does need some light to do that. It should be called Lighter and Spacier if you have a window Grin

Can't say it worked for me. I chose a pale colour but I wouldn't say it 'reflects light.'

Don't bother - we used Lunar Falls colour Light and Space, really nice colour and I like the matt finish but it was no different to the other rooms we did in normal paint, and it does mark easily.

I had to buy another pot recently to go over a few bits, and had enough left over for a small wall that we hadn't got around to doing yet, and it still didn't work on that wall either. There was no difference!

barleysugar · 03/03/2014 19:51

I wouldn't buy it again, we were pleased with the colour and it does seem bright, but it took at least three coats, and also sort of curdled, or split on one section of wall!

I am swinging towards normal (possibly scrubable) paint. The children don't deliberately mark the walls (or haven't yet), but being a long hall it is likely to get bashes and bumps alongside mucky fingerprints. I also worry if it shows up the condition of the plaster, as it's not brilliant in some places.

And whilst some people sound really happy with the effect, there seems to be just as many with the opposite experience.

My current thinking is light coloured Dulux Endurance+ paint, daylight bulbs and a big mirror.

How many watts are the daylight bulbs just out of interest?

OnePlanOnHouzz · 04/03/2014 06:49

there are many different types from 11w LED that emits a glow similar to 60w to a standard 100w bulb - depends on what you want to spend ! if you search 'daylight bulbs' on amazon you get 37,000 ish products to select from !
