Damp from wet brickwork

Hello. We developed a damp patch in our hallway which I assumed was due to a leak in our flat roof. A roofer cane around this morning and said it's actually an overflow pipe from the bathroom which is too short and constantly dripping which has soaked the brickwork. We are going to get it sorted next week but I was wondering what to do about the damaged walls. There is a white crusty mould on the wall. Should we wait for it to dry out then sand it or does it need something more heavy duty? Thanks for reading.

look up "efflorescence"

is this white stuff inside or outside the house?

don't try to wash it off.

Yes! It actually looks pretty bad in the kitchen as well. Do you need a special product? Is it very bad?

Inside the house on the plaster in the corner of the kitchen and some in the corner of the hallway.

wait until it is fully dry, then brush it off. It is crystals of dissolved mineral salts.
