What a horrible day for someone to view our house!!

We've a viewing this afternoon and I can't imagine they'll like it. Like everywhere else it's really windy and heavy rain here so fences are flapping around and a inch of rainwater on patio. It's bin day and three wheelie bins have blown over and two food caddys, so there's papers and empty milk bottles flying around and they'll be bits of food on floor when bins have gone in. Fingers crossed, they've already driven past or know the area and that's it's usually clean and tidy!!

On a positive note, our house is quite light inside even on the day like this, so hopefully they'll notice that.

so pick up the rubbish and the bins and sweep up the food. Job done.

they will understand you can't fix the fences until the wind dies down.

We viewed on a miserable/wet/dark evening and it didn't put us off! In fact we figured if we like it when wind/rain/light we're doing their best to put us off we'd only like it more in the sunshine!

Just make a light comment about the weather playing havoc and as long as your home is bright and warm they will get a good impression. Good luck.

We have a viewing at 2pm and a second viewing tomorrow at 2pm. I feel your pain

Bake some cake and offer it to them. That might do the trick

Heating on, lamps on for a warm glow and if you can bear the cheesiness, something baking in the oven. Make it the sort of home you'd like to come into on a day like this!

We sold ours on a really miserable weekend 2 wks ago. 'Twas cold and raining - I cranked the heating up, lit some scented candles and bingo it sold!

Make the house as light as possible and warm and welcoming as possible. There is nothing worse than falling in love with a house on a sunny summer's day and finding out all the shortcomings when the weather turns bad.

The viewers will know that the house doesn't leak, isn't damp and that the heating works - all very important points.

At least they can tell if it's watertight.

We looked at houses in the awful wet summer of 2007 and picked our current one because there were no leaks and you had to step up into the house so less likely to flood. Plus it was still reasonable bright even in the crap weather. Any house can look good when it's bright and sunny!

Too late now coz they'll have been and gone, but I would go for cosy. Roaring fire (if you have one) snuggling throws and pillows etc, and, as someone said earlier, a batch of baking in the oven smelling mouthwatering.

If they liked it in the stormy weather, they'll love it when the sun shines.
