Anyone got a Mandarin Stone floor?

I've been looking endlessly online but actually went to the showroom today.
The Dijon tumbled limestone looks perfect.
Any comments? It's for a kitchen with UFH.

I have the Dijon brushed limestone. The tumbled was just a bit too rustic looking for our kitchen.

It was only laid a couple of weeks before Xmas but I bloody love it Grin

I vacuum it regularly with a hard floor brush but I've only mopped it a couple of times Blush. Even with DCs running in & out and playing on a water logged lawn and a dog it really doesn't show the dirt at all. And I cook a lot and am quite messy.

So I'd definitely recommend it. It is also an easy colour to match to kitchen units. Mine are painted in F&B mouse's back and stony ground, it would also work well with greys and white.

Is there 15% discount still applicable? Ask!

MrsFlorrick · 07/02/2014 01:24

Yes. In bathroom.

I have Dijon tumbled Grin

(Waves to Amazonian)

Good quality stones from them. Great service generally. Helpful show rooms and head office.

Floor looks amazing. It's been in over 18 months now. Even my DC can't destroy it.

Make sure you have it sealed post installation. Grin

dontcallmemam · 07/02/2014 06:11

Great thanks. The chap in the sale room did stress the importance of regular sealing.
Definite room for negotiation on the price, especially as I spied some painted porcelain for the hall on the way out Grin

(Waves back to MrsFlorrick)

MrsFlorrick has impeccable taste Grin and persuaded me to choose the Dijon Grin The dog was sick on it last night and it is still pristine - this was one of the things I was worried about with limestone. It was sealed before grouting then 2 more coats after being grouted. It's easy to do - I did the 2 final coats. Oh I also put 2 coats of matt wax protector on after the sealant.

Now MrsFlorrick - any suggestions for the splashback behind my range cooker?! To go inside the chimney breast - approximately 1.9m wide by 80cm ish high. I think glass will look too modern, ditto brushed stainless steel (although seen some nice Martin Moore kitchens with this). I'm as clueless with wall tiles as I am with floor tiles!

juneau · 07/02/2014 09:59

Just make sure it's sealed properly! We have the Jerusalem White Gold honed limestone in our bathrooms and it was apparently sealed twice, yet DS2 was sick on it on Sunday night and it's left a mark Sad

dontcallmemam · 07/02/2014 13:25

Initially I discounted stone flooring due to the risk of staining. The salesmen convinced me that good sealing is the answer. I shall have to force myself to do it regularly.
looks at wooden worktops that need oiling

Hi dontcallmemam

I'm in a similar situation to yours a year on!

Also interested in limestone for my kitchen particularly Dijon tumbled and sea shell from mandarin stone.
Any experiences or recommendations most welcome.
Thank you.

BlardyBlaaaaa · 26/04/2015 18:45

I'd also be interested in which product you'd recommend for sealing. My bathroom floor is a mandarin tumbled limestone. I like it but think we made a mistake with the grout. it's grey, but too dark....,

guddy · 27/04/2015 10:59

Anyone???

alwayshavepeckham · 27/04/2015 11:27

My Mandarin Stone tumbled Djon is the perfect kitchen floor. It looks lovely and never looks dirty even when it is. Highly recommended.

guddy · 27/04/2015 19:45

Thanks for replying alwayshavepeckhan.
That's one of the stones I'm looking at- sea shell is the other.
What colour kitchen cabinets have you got ?

alwayshavepeckham · 27/04/2015 19:51

F&B Light Blue with a marble look Silestone worktop. Modern Country is the look I hope.

trixymalixy · 27/04/2015 20:00

Ive got the taj grey brushed limestone in my hallway. It's great, easy to keep clean and looks lovely.

guddy · 28/04/2015 06:54

Thanks very much for the replies.
I think will take the plunge and go and order tumbled Dijon .

Finally how often do you treat the stone and what did you use?

MrsFlorrick · 28/04/2015 23:00

If you seal it with Dry Treat, it will be years before you need to reseal again.

Just be prepared to be out and have all windows open for a few hours afterwards. This stuff stinks. And you shouldn't walk on it for 24hrs afterwards.

Other than that it's amazing stuff.

Dijon from Mandarin stone is lovely. Mine has been in 2 years and is stunning still.

guddy · 30/04/2015 09:57

Thanks MrsFlorrick for your message it's reassuring to hear.
Just the family left to convince!
Dh's commented about the floor being too simple and plain....

alwayshavepeckham · 30/04/2015 11:56

It really isn't that plain, more a good neutral. We have some lovely fossils in ours.
I loved it so much we've also done a sitting room, hall, utility, downstairs loo & all our bathrooms in Djon tumbled.
DS has thrown a whole takeaway curry on ours & it's cleaned up without a stain.

Apatite1 · 30/04/2015 12:00

You've all convinced me to get Dijon tumbled for the kitchen, so thank you! Grin

guddy · 30/04/2015 17:23

Thanks alwayshavepeckham and apatite1. Totally agree with you alwayshavepeckham and I believe there are so many colours in Dijon to pick out for kitchen cabinets as well.
