Replacing a loo, and have seen a nice one but the pan bit goes all the way back to the wall, rather than having a gap between it and the walk like they usually do. So there's no way you could get your hand to the soil pipe or underneath the seat without removing the whole thing. Is this a bad idea?

(Possibly my most niche post ever I think Grin)

Thank you!

toilet seat replacement shop

Hopefully, I've only just learnt how to do links. I emailed them with my seat measurements ( width between holes, width of pan, length from holes to edge of pan).

Their bespoke service was outlandishly expensive but hopefully you wouldn't need that.

Have you tried an independent bathroom shop too? They might have some ideas.

Actually I've just looked at the prices on there and they're all in the hundreds of pounds!! Clearly all made of platinum with inlaid pink diamonds...

Really curious about the issues with top button flushes!

We had two Twyfords toilets with top buttons in our last house. In use for 8 years with no problems and we could get the lids off. Are they some sort of anomaly?

Incidentally I'd be careful with Bathstore toilets. We had problems with splashback from them and their advice was we weren't using them correctly! We had to take it out.

The ones with fittings a strange distance apart, there is a possibility you could fit by reversing the hinges.

Modern fashionable metal hinges are L shaped. The vertical of the L has to go down the hole, but you can turn or swap the hinges so the sideways parts point either into the middle or out to the sides.

The less fashionable plastic ones have a long plastic tube or rod going between the hinge sockets. You can cut down the tube length. It might be possible to buy a longer tube.

@pigletjohn
We looked at that but as they are 8 cm wider apart than standard just turning them round is not enough. We also thought about unscrewing the fittings and moving them along but then you have the holes from the original position which is not very hygienic.

Been look looking through all the links and there are two seats in the whole of the websites that could fit. Will show them to DH tonight.

Other problem is I have no idea what make of toilet they are. Been hunting for a label but there is none and they are built into a cupboard on the wall which has a fixed work surface siliconed on the top. No we didn't install them, they came with the house (we have two of them!)
