Child-friendly yard/parking

Hello,

Just wondering if it is at all possible to make a Victorian terrace concrete yard garden-like/child-friendly if you also have to park there because there is no on street parking to the front?

If anyone has any experience with this situation or any ideas how to combine these two very opposing needs, I'd love to hear them.

Many thanks in advance :)

Hmm - cars and kids toys don't mix very well at all.
How big is the garden/yard? Just big enough for the car or about half and half?

Hi oscarwilde, thanks for replying. Its the former unfortunately I think. To be honest I'm not sure as we are going to view the house next week. It is a lovely house, but trying to work out whether it is really feasible with the parking issue, as would like some space for Josephine (whose 18 months) to go outside). We have a postage stamp sized bit of grass where we are at the moment, along with a postage sized house, so this may be a opportunity to have much more interior space but at the less or none outside.

I think I'll definately have find out if there are any parking alternatives to be found... I think there is a free car park near by for example but not sure of the possibility of leaving your car there long term or how secure it would be.

one other thing - if the play area is also the parking space, you need an infallible safety procedure to avoid a tragedy.

it has happened - sadly quite often in places such as NZ, Australia and America, but I'm sure it isn't unknown in the UK.

you will not see a toddler from the drivers seat of a car.

Can you hire or buy a garage/lock-up off site to park the car? Does it HAVE to be that house? I am guessing the lack of outside space is what's making it more affordable?
