Cleaning a terracotta tiled floor

Does anyone have any recommendations for the best products to get a terracotta tiled floor really clean and looking good?

I have just mopped our kitchen floor, but as it is a high traffic area and we have 2 DCs it never seems to look clean - if something get dropped it seems to mark even when cleaned up. We suspect it wasn't sealed (?) properly when it was laid, but as we rent we can't do anything about that.

We usually just mop with either Dettol or Flash.

Your best bet is probably to give it a really good clean then seal it. Wickes do something along the lines of 'natural tile rennovator' which I've used on some old terracotta tiles- there was a fair amount of scrubbing and mopping but they looked loads better afterwards. Then seal sharpish before they have a chance to get dirty again.

What do you use to seal it?

I can't remember what we bought, but we got something to seal ours when we moved in 14 years ago - ask somewhere like B&Q. It goes have a couple of slight permanent marks on it now, but still in good condition. Most of the time I mop it with a mild disinfectant mix about once a week (our cats come in from the garden to this room first). If there is any mud traipsed in the meantime, I just wipe it over with a wet cloth and it looks clean to me.
