Boiling water tap for kitchen

Sounds like a brilliant idea. Two questions. I'm fussy about tea - re-fill kettle every time I make tea, only use just boiled water. Do you notice a difference using a boiling water tap?

Second question. Which brand of tap? Does anyone have bad/good experiences they'd like to share?

Thank you.

I agree with charley barley. We have the Quooker and it is fabulous.

I love mine but it took DH a bit longer to get used to it. We have Qooker fusion - when I did my research Qooker was the only one that actually delivered boiling water (most of the others achieve 95-98 degrees), it sounds like this might be important to you. The downside of delivering boiling water is that when it comes out it hisses and spits quite dramatically, but minor detail as soon get used to it.

I would not notice a difference in my drinks (other than no more waiting for the kettle)

At work we had several Zip Taps installed. They were rubbish and their customer service was really bad. they bunged up with any limescale in the water, even changing the filters twice a month didn't keep the problem at bay.

Brilliant we have a Quooker. no different but you should let the first bit run out before you use it.

Just had a look at Qooker. Looks very impressive. Thank you.

We have a Quooker - it is great. You do need to service it, but they send you the kit for free!

LadyGardenersQuestionTime · 27/01/2014 16:35

I have a qooker. It is absolutely brilliant, well worth what I spent on it. If I ever move house I will install one immediately.

The water is actually boiling; tea made immediately; no more dh filling the kettle up and boiling the whole thing to make one cup of tea; brilliant for big pans of veg, pasta, boiled eggs etc. I lurve it.

TunipTheUnconquerable · 27/01/2014 16:36

How much do they cost?
Don't people ever forget they've got boiling water in them and scald themselves?

PestoStormissimos · 27/01/2014 16:38

Isn't that really dangerous? Shock

thekingfisher · 27/01/2014 16:39

Tell me more cost? installation? - retrofit into existing work top?

FayeKorgasm · 27/01/2014 16:40

We have a Quooker fusion too. It's fantastic. I can't recommend it enough.

sighbynight · 27/01/2014 16:43

We've had a quooker for a few years now. I bloody love it. No waiting for a cup of tea in the morning. Brilliant.

poppycarew · 27/01/2014 17:59

You have to push the top of the tap in and then turn it so you can't really turn it on by accident. Also it looks quite different from the normal tap.

I also have the insinkerator tap as linked to by CharleyBarley but only hot water as I have filtered water on tap supplied by the fridge freezer.

I flipping love it. Had a new kitchen installed in July so it was done at the same time as that. I am a tea drinker, I haven't noticed any difference in taste.

Mine was about £360 to buy it. Very straight forward for anyone competent or a plumber, plus there are installation vids on YouTube.
