Bathroom - Matt or Gloss tiles

Bathroom suite will be white and so will the wall tiles (300 x 600)

Colour will come from untiled wall, flooring and accessories.

Can someone please tell me the pros / cons of matt / gloss tiles.

It's a small room and I'm worried that gloss will be too glaring. On the other hand will matt look too drab against the suite?

Will matt be difficult to clean and would gloss show water stains too easily (hard water area)

Thank you

we have homebase luna beige rectangle tiles on the wall and the black luna square tiles on floor with one wall painted dark grey. the tiles are smooth and matt, no ripples or anything. the beige ones dont really show any water marks and clean up well but the floor tiles NEVER look clean! we live in northern ireland, no idea what type of water we have tho. mil has giant gloss cream tiles and they look fine, the black gloss she had before were a nightmare for water marks

Thanks. I expect any tile will show water marks in my hard water area.

How about glare from the light bouncing off the tiles? Are 3 glossy walls too glaring?

what colour are you thinking of? mil has white gloss ripple tiles ceiling to floor on all 4 walls with bright spotlights. There is a LOT of glare espesh with the white suite too. have you tried looking online for "showroom" ideas and see what kind of lighting is used as well. we have one centered light with 4 small bulbs with throws the light out across ceiling rather than on to the tiles. hate redecorating lol

Matt (ideally slightly textured) on the floor especially if you have DC. Gloss ones are lethally slippery when wet.

Also gloss will show any limescale or grubbiness more, as it'll be a matt mark which contrasts with the gloss iyswim.

I'm only tiling the walls. Therer will be 2 full height and one half-height walls of tiles.

The tiles I currently have are sort of wet look ripple tiles (but grey). I really dislike that look as the light glares off them and I don't like things that look distorted IYKWIM.

There will be 4 downlighters evenly spaces

you have lower watt bulbs? might prevent the glare? your tiles sound lovely
