Stow on the wold?

Hi, we are thinking of relocating to Stow on the wold - is there much for mums and toddlers nearby? I know Moreton has a pool with swimming lessons but need a bit more than that as LO is nearly 1. Or will we feel like the youngest ones in the town? Also considering Moreton, Chipping Norton. Currently in a small town so think would like to stay in a town rather than village. Any thoughts would be great, thanks.

Hi, I live in a village just outside Stow. Stow is lovely, and there are things to do but it is very rural - if you are used to living somewhere a bit more "cosmopolitan" I think you might struggle?! Chippy has more going on that isnt aimed at tourists. And more normal shops and cafes etc. The tourists in Stow in the summer may drive you a bit bonkers...
Have you been to both and had a look round? Cirencester also has a bit more going on.

Not living anywhere cosmopolitan at the mo - small Surrey market town with no market .... Is the primary school in Stow better than Chippy? We've looked around Stow, Moreton and Chippy. Also Bloxham as near my parents but think prefer being in a town rather than village. Not much on the market in Chippy at the moment hence wider search area. Not sure whether to consider Charlbury? Cirencester feels too big.. And too close to the in laws :-)

Where is work based?

Witney but we don't necessarily want to live in Witney itself - too close to work.

Have you looked at Shipston on Stour? or maybe Woodstock?

Zoozoo101 · 23/01/2014 07:33

Haven't looked at Woodstock yet though might next weekend. I like Shipston but there is a thread on here about it having a big drug problem?

I haave friends with small children in charlbury who completely love it. I think it is v pricey though! I dont know Woodstock. I think Charlbury, Chippy sound better options than stow, personally.

Thanks - all really useful. Guess it depends when the right property appears too.

Woodstock is nice it has Blenheim Palace which is great for kids plus you have the Oxfordshire museum which is orientated towards little ones. It's closer to Oxford for a hit of city life and shopping, and for the museums/parks etc which are fab from about 2/3yrs+
Bloxham isn't big in itself but the primary school is good and so close to Banbury you can use all those facilities really easily. There is lots in Banbury for pre-schoolers and it's easy to get around, although not quite so charming as the Cotswolds. Bloxham has it's own toddler group as well to get to know local mums.
I'd prefer to be closer to a bigger central hub like Banbury or Oxford rather than out at Stow personally.
