does anyone know if there is a minimum size requirement for this? In terms of min distances between basin and loo etc.

and has anyone ever used these? are they any good? I need my downstairs WC to be as small as possible but I don't want it to be unusable...

not sure of the legalities, but a bit of googling will give you the suggested clearances round the toilet. The Americans have laws for this, so if they fit then a Brit will, so you can use their distances as a guide.

it is worth planning, as there's no use in a toilet with no room to sit on it! You can get little sinks that are on top of the toilet, or very small ones that fit in corners. There will be a lot of splashing but they are better than nothing.

From the centre of the loo try and allow min of 450mm either side ( ie 900mm wide area for loo ) you need a min of 530mm clear infront of the loo - and ideally position any basin 150mm away from any return wall and allow a min of 530mm clear space in front of a basin ...hope that helps !

I presumed there would be, but when we were looking to buy recently I looked at this flat on Rightmove as it matched our criteria for 2 decent sized double bedrooms...

...then I saw the bathroom Hmm which is 1.6m x 1m. Presumably you're expected to lean forward while on the loo.

That's terrible !!!

i have a downstairs toilet which is only a tiny bit wider than a door.... three feet maybe but deeper 5 feet maybe??

what we have done is to put a shelf across the back wall with a glass basin on it, tap comes up through the shelf which is tiled. The enclosed cistern is underneath. (the shelf splits and some of it lifts for access)

Pannelling under the shelf to the floor, and a back to the wall pan fixed to the floor and pannelling, positioned slightly off centre so that you stand next to the toilet to wash your hands

So it is "compact" in there, but none of your stupid freaky teeny tiny cloakroom basins

We have one of those toilets(rented house). I HATE it! You can't control the water pressure so it comes shooting out and unless you hold your hands at a certain angle you spray yourself and the entire bathroom with water. And it's only cold water. And if you haven't finished washing your hands by the time it cuts off you have to flush again for more water. And it scares guests Grin
