Is there anyway to remove rust from a towel rail?
TIA

You can sand it off but if it's chrome ( which it will be) then it will simply take the surface off . Stainless steel won't rust.

Bin it.

Better towel rails are chromed brass. Chrome on steel is prone to rust, something to do with relative position on the periodic table or something.

I suppose it is from condensation or damp towels? Was the rail not warm enough to keep itself dry?

Thanks PigletJohn

I guess it's mostly from condensation as we don't put many towels on it and the rust is on most of the "rungs" not just where the towels hang.

Will make sure I get a chromed brass one when we replace it.

if the marks are faint, you could rub them with kitchen roll wetted with Jenolite liquid rust remove (from motorists shops) as a temporary measure

It is a strong acid, so plastic gloves, cover your skin, eyes and clothes, have warm water to hand to wash away any splashes.

No other rust remover will do, they mostly turn it hard and black ready for painting.
