Not my taste. Too much going on, it distracts from the "cottagey" style.
Personally, and I'm sure others feel differently, I think that if you have an 'interesting' old historical property with lots going on in the way of structure, beams, fireplaces, nooks and crannies and higgeldy doors then you ought to have neutral/white walls, fabric that complements wood/stonework/whatever and minimal clutter so that the actual features can be appreciated.
