Hi.
Looking to do our loft this spring. Anything I can do to make life cleaner/easier/less stressful?

Am looking at pinterest avidly for ideas, and buying house magazines in the hope of finding some wise words...anyone got any 'must do' tips or anything you have done that you would do differently please?

all comments gratefully received!

I made them do all the work through the roof and then put the stairs in last Grin

Agree with random, we've just had ours done and any good builder or conversion company will do most of the work through the roof with minimal disruption through the house.
However there will still be a lot of dust especially when plastering is done so keep all your doors closed and wipe down with a damp cloth often.
Hope it all goes well, we're delighted with ours it's given us so much more space.

Great thanks.

We had our roof redone a few years ago, and already have the windows etc in, so would we be silly to open it up again? Planning on doing as much as we can ourselves with guidance from mates in the know...

Can I join in?

We are also planning to do this shortly.

My main issue is finding a decent company do to the work - everyone I've asked locally was not impressed with the company they used, and I'm somewhat sceptical of some of the glowing references I've read online.

Any advice on how to find a decent company? (Cambs/Herts)

The company we went with we chose because our neighbours had used them 18mo previously and had a good experience. It didn't occur to me that in the meantime the company had changed hands and had been taken over by a total cowboy. He'd bought the company, name, staff and all but it was a very different experience we had.
