Floor tiles have cracked - alternative?

We got an extension to our kitchen 4 years ago and while I'm pleased with everything else, the tiles in the kitchen part (it's a kitchen/dining/living room) have cracked. The floor underneath has started to 'move', if that makes sense, so many of the tiles have cracked. Unfortunately, we laid the tiles right up to the wall and then had the (very expensive) kitchen fitted over it so it's going to be very expensive to remove the tiles because I reckon we'll have to have the kitchen taken out and refitted.

My question is this: What flooring would anyone suggest as an alternative to tiles? The rest of the room, about 2/3 of the room, has an oak floor. Should we run this the whole way over? After 4 years I'm sure our oak has darkened so it would take a long time for it to blend. Or is there another alternative? Whilst I loved the brightness of the big cream tiles, I hated the cold underfoot.

Have you looked into things like amtico/karndean? They're essentially hardish vinyl, available as engineered boards. Relatively warm underfoot, and in many styles, some of which are very like ceramic tiles.

Hi BrownSauce, yes I thought of amtico but I wonder would it be an issue if the floor moves underneath that too? I need to contact a salesperson and have someone look at the floor.
