Can anyone suggest a paint stripper that works? I usually use Nitromors, but since the dicloromethane has been removed ( the stuff that did the job) it's useless.

We've struggled at work with this. The yellow Nitromors is better than the other colour is all I can suggest.

Do you know why they removed the dicloromethane?

All good reasons I.e. health risk for the user, but you might as well use swarfega now, for all the use it is.the yellow has been discontinued.

Try HomeStrip.

It's much nicer to use, and I have found it to be better than the new formulation of nitromors. It does take a bit of effort (with scrapers, toothpicks and steel wool, depending on the job in hand), but it's particularly good where you've got lead-based paint (no dust, or fumes from heating). I've used it on old doors, door furniture, and tiles. Top tip is to keep it wet while it works, by putting small items into ziplock bags, and covering up large surfaces with those thin polythene dust sheets, or opened-up bin bags.
