Corian, marble or granite work top?

Corian appeals because of the moulded sink possibility but would granite or marble be better? Any advice MNers?

Corrian is mega bucks, especially the moulded sink units

I used to be a kitchen designer for a shed kitchen place and quoted someone 19k for a fitted kitchen, 12k of that was corrian

If it was my choice I would go with quartz for both durability and looks

We have pale grey corian, installed 8 years ago. I was just thinking today how good it looks after very heavy use. Corian is also repairabler. I love it.

Do not purchase a Minerva work top under any circumstances. It is a complete pain to look after, clean, polish, telling everybody use a mat, don't put your keys on the unit, don't breathe if you dare to use it. And most important of all don't cook near it, it is a con to sell this for a working kitchen. Shame on Minerva, and any retailer who sells it. As soon as I can I will replace it.

Don't get corian, it will scratch and look like a bag of rags within months.

I have Ivory Fantasy granite and love it. It doesn't even show when it has crumbs on it. We have only had it for a month though, so don't yet know how it will stand the test of time.

i had plain black granite and hated it. looked fab but every little crumb/mark showed so to get it looking good you had to wipe,then clean with granite cleaner, then polish. we cook a lot so was no good for us. Flecked might be easier

We moved into a house with black granite and I completely agree with the poster above - ti shows every single crumb, and reflects it so the counters look even more messy than they are.

That said, we've knocked it around for 6 years (and it wasn't new when we bought the house) and it still looks like new (and we don't use any special cleaners at all). It's actually fantastic - tough, you can cut on it if necessary, great for rolling out pastry, and you can put hot hot dishes straight down on it. Perfectly practical ... just with our next kitchen we'll get a browny colour rather than mega-reflective black.
