Apologies if I'm posting in the wrong place - was not sure where to put this.
We are wondering about letting out our house short term via air bnb to make some extra income. It is a 4 bed house in London, zone 2, fully furnished obviously, and 10 mins walk from a tube station. But I'm not sure whether it is sensible. We have 3 small DC and I am wondering about security. It's obviously unlikely that a guest would copy the keys or whatever, but poss ....
Has anyone done this or does anyone know someone who has? Would you do it?
Many thanks for any thoughts ...

I've house-swapped lots of times and have decided that the best way to enter into these arrangements is to believe that the people who will be staying are decent and trustworthy. I know it's slightly different as we dtayin their hpmes do there is ssomething of a quid pro quo but if you're worried about having strangers in your home, I don't think it's worth doing. If ot will make things easier for you, however, you can change a barrel lock in about 10 minutes, iit's very simple so it might be worth doing after your guests have departed to hive you peace of mind.

Don't underestimate how much cleaning and tidying (and repairs) you will have to do before ypur guests arrive.

have a good look on the airbnb site for advice. And you need to tell your insurers. If guests steal anything/burn the place down and you haven't told insurers, you won't be covered.

AirBnB is a fab site, I haven't been a host but have had a great experience of renting a room. For piece of mind have a read of this link. Although it's not intended to be a substitute for insurance, AirBnB do guarantee their hosts the costs of any damages to property up to £600,000: www.airbnb.co.uk/guarantee
