hello!

my plumber installed the water softener yesterday, he said water went into it and I set the timer last night but the switch keeps going back to service. any ideas? the plumber lives too far away to get back here at the moment.

thank you!!

It should return to service after completing the regen.

On some, if you manually set regen, it will set a switch but actually perform it during the night, e.g. at 2am.

Carefully observe the level of salt in the bin so you can tell if it had gone down by an inch or so when you look again tomorrow.

Look in the instruction booklet for clues.

He's so lovely.

I don't think it's working at all, did the tablet test and it took 9 tablets! I'm not sure my plumber did the commissioning properly so going to try it myself on Wednesday when I'm not at work.

I assume it's not working as haven't noticed any change to the water either.

has it got a big rotating knob with 24 hours round the edge? Or is it digital with buttons?

If it is the sort I am used to, there is a little window in the disk of your knob. Rotate the knob until you see the word "regen" through the window, but no further. It may spring back a bit so you will have to push it one click more. The knob will then very slowly rotate, taking a couplke of hours, driven by the clock motor. As it rotates it will open in turn the various valves that flow water through the resin, suck from the water in the salt resrervoir, rinse the salt out of the resin, and refill the water in the salt bin. The motor must be plugged into the mains while this happens.

You can sit and watch if you like. You should see water flowing into the drain some of the time, and hear the cam rotating and water flowing.

Have you got the instruction book? What make is it?

TerrysNo2 · 18/12/2013 22:59

I spoke to the people I bought it from (the people you recommended) and after a bit of investigation and sending photos they figured that the cam shaft knob bit (that's my technical description Grin ) is broken so he's said to send it back and they will fix it.

thanks for all your help anyway! I can't wait to get it working, since we've moved here DS has developed eczema as the water is so hard.
