you're welcome
I grew up near this house, we used to call it The Witches' House. So pleased to have a look round it after all these years! Smile

I'm pretty sure it will become flats and perhaps some building in the garden.

VworpVworp · 29/11/2013 22:55

Gosh, that is really rather lovely!

I love the belvedere

The games room/spaceship is pretty cool, I think Grin

When we were looking for a house this summer there was something very similar but IMO nicer (it had a staircase to die for) in Hartlepool which meant that I think it was about £850k for the same size & character.

WannabeFayeMouse · 30/11/2013 08:58

love it! Hartlepool would be closer to home, but £850k is just as unaffordable as £3.25m.

It is a bit fascinating with the flight simulator, the shield on the wall, the land rover outside. Is it in fact Lara Croft's house?

WannabeFayeMouse · 30/11/2013 08:59

but the lighting in pic 21 is awful. So I won't buy it then.

Roussette · 30/11/2013 09:00

Well... it honestly did nothing for me... I found the hall with all that red walls and swirly carpet horrible. And my bathroom (although possibly much smaller) is nicer! And imagine the upkeep of a place like that ... horrific! But I'm just practical and boring.

Levantine · 30/11/2013 09:01

Wow. I love it.

FourAndDone · 30/11/2013 09:16

This is my dream house! AmazingSmile

ShoeWhore · 30/11/2013 10:21

Bit Gothic for me but the space inside is stunning. Hope it's bought by someone who will be sympathetic to it.

Stase · 30/11/2013 17:25

I like the swirly carpets - wouldn't have them in my 1930s terrace though.

Beautiful. I love a bit of victorian gothic. Kitchen would be amazing with backlit puginesque stained glass cabinets.

I am in for the collective!

I grew up just down the road too! I will let my parents know it's on the market... !

hoobypickypicky · 30/11/2013 22:30

It's lovely. It's identical to the childhood home of a close friend and in the road off of which his house is sited. I remember that the family had a baby grand in the main sitting room and how it looked lost in such a big room!

We were 18 when we met. My friend had the whole upstairs as his domain and many a night a bunch of us congregated there after a gig, drinking beer or tea and talking until the sun came up. Happy days.

Stase · 01/12/2013 09:29

Wow, other Upper Norwood people! Mum and dad are getting ready to put our childhood home on the market in the new year after more than 30 years there, and my brother and sister are looking to buy something (smaller) in the area at the same time, so I've been snooping around rightmove quite a bit. I've moved out of London, so the prices are eye-watering from my PoV!

Oh god I want it I want it I want it. I'd be torn between that and the arts and crafts house in Harrow, but I think the self contained flat for my mum to live in would probably tip the balance.

Doesn't look like the work syndicate won the lottery this time though.

Talkinpeace · 01/12/2013 13:04

THAT house.
Wonderful.
Teleport it to five miles north of me and I'd sell my soul for it.

Umpire · 01/12/2013 16:56

Wow, it's amazing. It is a boutique hotel more than a home tho. I love it. Those stained glass window on the staircases!!! People should be passing through to admire them. Wasted on just one family. It needs more admiration than one ffamily can give.

Stase · 01/12/2013 18:51

Actually, it is right next door to a hotel, think it's called the Queen's, do there is a market for that in the area. Prefer that option to flats!
