My husband is convinced that if you get a new bathroom fitted, you will be without bathing and toilet facilites for about a week. We only have the one bathroom - can anyone advise is this true and how it worked when you had your bathroom done

thank you

we've just done ours but have a separate bath and shower in the same room, so only one goes out of use at a time. The toilet only takes a few moments to connect so goes on and off the wall - it may not be fixed down but will be usable.

but if you have bath and shower together, you may indeed have no washing facilities for a while. Is there a travelodge near?

We're having ours done at the moment and we've had a working toilet every night but none for 2 day times (it is working today). Luckily our neighbours are very good! No sink, shower or bath so far which is a bit grim! Hopefully only 3/4 more days. Back to teeth cleaning and hair washing in the kitchen sink :)

We did have to flush the loo using a bucket of water for a few days, but were never without a loo at all (well, a few hours in the middle of the day, once). Did have to wash at the kitchen sink though!

Most try and disconnect toilet last and connect new one ASAP. So hopefully it will only be one day in the day without toilet. Sink etc gone so you will have to use kitchen for teeth etc. take a visit to friends or swimming pool for a shower

Buy an old caravan stick it on the drive then flog it once you are done
Or Chemical toilets are about £40, most people will make sure the water etc is back on every night.
Go to the local Gym/ baths for a shower if you are stuck, we have them at work so it wouldn't be an issue for me, it just takes a bit of thought and have a chat with the people doing the work

Ah we do have a separate shower and bath in the same room...so would we always be able to use one or other?

we were moving our toilet and having all the pipes moved so we had to move out for a week!

Toilet in separate room and going nowhere :)

I suppose it depends if you are going to DIY or get in someone featured on rogue traders!
I deally you have 2 bathrooms and you can use the other one whilst workmen do there thing for 10 days.
But in the real world with only one loo you will be left with working loo and running water every night!
