Decided that Amtico might be out of my price range:( but this is a long term purchase so I don't want to scrimp. I am after something that looks like wood effect flooring, my kitchen is pale cream shaker and I am having taupe walls. Amy recommendations- I have seen Kahrs but the reviews are not good.

You do need to actually go and see it, but some of the stuff that Pergo do is good - seems to be reasonably hard-wearing too.

looks at karndean - we use art select autumn oak and people ask us all the time where we got our wood from. have a look at buying it off the net rather than using a local supplier, we got it much cheaper than buying locally.

YY to looking at Karndean on the internet. We haven't had it put in yet, but have found it for £17 /sqm (rather than the £30/sqm that it is officially sold out).

DIddled · 26/11/2013 22:12

Oooh thanks - where did you see it reasonable price please?

factory flooring direct (I think). I just googled Karndean (well, the specific type I wanted) and then looked through the google shopping results.

peggyundercrackers · 27/11/2013 14:26

i just googled it and looked at lots of links. it might also be worthwhile asking a local supplier for a supply only cost if you have someone to fit it for you - i forgot we did this for our hall way and they matched the online price but it was supply only.

DIddled · 27/11/2013 20:23

The carpet shop round the corner quoted me 40 quid per metre for Amtico without fitting! The dearest one was 75 quid a metre- I tried to look nonchalant whilst trying not to faint :(

Will check out links thanks v much

we have just put engineered oak in ours. It looks and feels fabulous, and is no more expensive than Karndean.

georgedawes · 28/11/2013 17:41

Tlc is good too and cheaper than amtico

NeveroddoreveN · 28/11/2013 19:36

I thought Kahrs was meant to be one of the best for engineered wood? Worried now as am planning that in our new house!
I currently have a mixed slate tile in my kitchen (not full on real slate as that takes upkeep) and it is easy to clean, goes well with pale colours and doesn't show the dirt straight away.

New one- anyone used Earthwerks flooring? Looks good and much cheaper than Amtico.

I just got a sample of Earthwerks - it's really nice!
