Leaking dishwasher - advice please!

Have just discovered that our dishwasher is leaking (which might explain the mysterious random puddles on the kitchen floor recently, doh!). I've pulled it out and it is obviously dripping from the connection where the water inlet pipe enters the machine. Dripping stops when I shut off stopcock controlling mains water supply to the dishwasher. When I unscrew the inlet pipe connector there isn't any obvious defect in the seal or connector.

Is it worth replacing the water inlet hose myself on the assumption that there is a fault with the connector seal that I can't see? Or is it more likely that there is a problem with the water valve/inside the machine (in which case I'll call out a repairman rather than wasting money on a replacement hose)?

Any help much appreciated as I am clueless about stuff like this!

you could tip it over on its back (not its front) and look.

the hose connects to the machine with a screw-on fitting the same as at the tap end. It has a rubber sealing washer (you can buy replacements) and if it has ever been changed, e.g. for a longer hose or to replace a damaged one, it might be loose or cross-threaded. It can be quite difficult (but essential) to put them on straight and you may need water pump pliers to get them tight.

if the hose is too short it might have been tugged when moving the machine. You can buy longer ones.

It might be that whatever it screws onto is damaged.

Thanks, PigletJohn.

Have managed to tighten the inlet hose connection so that the leak stops. Currently running the dishwasher and watching for recurrence of leak, fingers crossed it is OK now.
