Love this house. Think it should be a museum though rather than being modernised.

I'm half expecting to see Miss Haversham sitting in the corner of one of the photos. Amazing!

Wow that's beautiful. You could it into the most stunning family home. It would be such a shame if it was modernised. Unfortunately it's twice my budget!

It is gorgeous. No idea about the area but th house is a beaut.

It reminds me a bit of my parents' house which has never been for sale since it was build by one of my relatives over 115 years ago! It would be awful to strip everything out and modernise it too much. I hope the new owners are as sympathetic as possible. I'm itchy just at the thought people would turn it into flats :(

There is a house in a similar state to that near me, a renovation project. It's not Victorian though, is Georgian (more my taste) and is stunning. It would be a TOTAL money pit though for whoever buys it. It needs lots of work and is one of those where you need a contingency fund 3x bigger than your actual renovation budget!

Wow! What a labour of love that could be if you had the disposable income. Would be amazing to see it cleaned up and brought back to life

Wow, that is an incredible house. It's like a film set. The rooms are all beautiful proportions. I would love to see more pictures.

Great find OP.

That would make a fantastic location house for photo-shoots and films.

It's in a great area, it's boho central! Very good chance it will be bought by someone that loves it like we do. Loads of big houses in Moseley were divided into flats but are slowly being returned to their former glory.

It should be left just as it is. It's perfect.

(Although I wouldn't want to live in it as it is. I do like my central heating Blush).

Beautiful house. Please don't let it be gutted though. Restoration rather than modernisation would be the key here Smile.

I bet Moseley was all but a village when most of that furniture went in Grin.

lalalonglegs · 22/11/2013 19:14

God, I would buy that in an instant

ShockI want it! I reckon it'd cost the same again to restore it to it's most beautiful!

Report
NorthernLurker · 22/11/2013 19:25

That is beautiful but it's a money pit - bet you need new roof, total rewire, central heating, new windows, possibly new doors, carpets throughout or alternative floor refurb, new kitchen, ton of new plumbing, epic number of man hours to spend on garden and more on actually heating it than most of us earn in a decade.

I would buy it in a heartbeat Grin

What a beauty. Just imagine polishing those banisters! Lucky sod whoever buys it.

It's lovely but I can't help imagining that it's been lived in by a man who was born and raised there, he never married and has lived a relatively lonely life. And that he's now died. And that makes me sad.

It would make a beautiful home though.

I love the furniture and knick nacks too...

How weird! I know someone who has expressed an interest in ths house and is viewing again over the weekend!

They are not the type of people to gut and modernise.

DivingBell · 22/11/2013 19:40

Seriously people, what is wrong with modernisation? Decent plumbing, electricity, heating? I can only assume that most of you haven't had the discomfort of living in a totally unmodernised house such as this!

Yes, leave the good period features - this is an absolutely stunning house with a huge array of very special features. But we live in the 21st Century now, let's reap the benefits of it while respectively preserving the good things of the past.

Oh, and I would LOVE the bath (but cleaned up please!!)
