What will be the Avocado bathroom of the future?

I'm doing a whole house & am questioning my taste. I know opinions are subjective but could you help with your ideas?
So far I'm thinking

-not stone everywhere e.g. whole bathrooms full of Travertine
-not down lighters everywhere
-no feature walls I can't wallpaper anyway
Any ideas would be very welcome.

Laminate floors.

Parquet is forever. Laminate is common. (in every sense of the word)

I don't think feature walls will be simply because they are so easy to change.

laminate flooring perhaps?

travertine or limestone bathrooms became very very popular but they are a classic look and so shouldn't date in the same way that avacado suites did.

downlighters might become less popular as people realise thats one of the reasons their electricity usage has increased.

I'd rip parquet out as soon as look at it . . .

Hate Agas, does that count?

Decking maybe?

I think Littleredsquirrel is right in that most of the stuff we're doing now that will be considered tacky or vile is easily changed, or taken away when we move.

Moving myself soon and my bugbears are the aforementioned Agas and parquet as I know I'd be paying through the nose for them and yet will get rid of as soon as I move in, utility rooms, and garages with all sorts in them that are probably putting the equivalent price of another two rooms onto a house.

I've wondered this myself, with my downlighters, open plan hand painted shaker style kitchen with black granite worksurface.

Agas have been around long enough to be timeless, IMHO, though obv some people will never like them heathens

Bifold doors?

Greige walls?

Those stupid metro tiles?

Hi gloss kitchens (yes, they will come in and out of fashion, but will never be timeless)

Bifold doors might be one since they're expensive to replace.

I think metro tiles are classic and so shouldn't date.

Black grantite probably is one I'm afraid. There is already a backlash against granite in the US

I agree with most of the things suggested (and loved them once).

Metro tiles,

All over tiled beige bathrooms,

Mosaic/contrast strip of tiling in bathroom,

Downlighters,

Laminate,

Painted shaker kitchen,

Black granite worktop Square tiles in varied shades (random or ordered).

Those shutters I reckon.

Decking

And to a lesser extent as easily changeable:

Feature walls
Wood burners (yes I have one and yes they are great but everything this popular goes out at some point)

And these have already long gone out of fashion but are still on plenty of houses:

Upvc conservatories

ha! Wood burners won't go out of fashion unless peak-oil gets reversed!

Decking - why on earth? Rat-traps!

Anything other than white has the potential to be dire in a few years.

Rchesire beat me with UPVC conservatories. I think I would run a mile from a house that had one even now.

Kitchen diners. Everyone is obsessed with them but. I predict we will go back to separate rooms eventually just because things change......

I love Avocado bathroom suites though. I wouldn't install one now but they have a kitsch look and if you had a retro 70s house they would be great.

I love houses to be of their time as far as possible. We live in an Edwardian house and are moving to a 30s house. Both houses retain lots of original features.

Oh no, I'm having a new bathroom and just about to put metro tiles in! I think in a few years we'll see skips full of square toilets. And all things "Shaker"

Kitchen islands, decking, wall-mounted TV's.....

metrotiles are classic. they won't date.

Square tiles look very old fashioned now.

Agree on wall mounted TVs, or specifically massive testosterone boosting TVs that don't have the middle of the screen at eye level but about two foot up in the air.

I don't get metro tiles, they shout Public Loo at me. I don't want to cook dinner in a room that reminds me of a toilet.

Mind you, I have an avocado bathroom suite (it works, why spend money changing it) and a UPVC conservatory.

I would love an avocado bath suite and was quite gutted our 70s house didn't have one.

I kind of agree about laminate but I'm still getting our entire downstairs kitted out in it next week, as I'm not coping very well with small children and carpets.

Those washbasins that are shaped like bowls that sit on top of a counter. Especially glass ones.

I like them but I can imagine them being considered rather dated in the future
