Curtains for DS room

DS is 2.5 and getting lovely new curtains made for his room. Had initially decided on this, but could you tell me if you think it is too babyish? I can't make up my mind as have never had a 5 yr old boy before! Sample looks lovely to me:

He'll be sharing with a baby brother in about a year so I guess babyish doesn't matter so much...

Other option is this cath kidston dinosaur one but I'd have to go straight ahead and order these without a sample...

I think I would get more bored of the dino one but it's him I should be thinking about really!

Or I guess I could go boring and plain/stripes.

(too much choice...)

I like the stars better.

DorisShutt · 19/11/2013 14:17

Prefer the stars too. The dinosaurs are a bit grown up for a little boys room.

sleepcrisis · 19/11/2013 14:18

So do I I think... but everyone keeps telling me that the most important thing is that I must make sure his room isn't too babyish!

I am imagining all his friends at school in 4 years time taking the piss because he doesn't have spiderman curtains or something!

I'd go for the stars. They will be appropriate for longer.

He can always have a spiderman duvet cover/poster. Cheaper to change than curtains.

sleepcrisis · 19/11/2013 14:24

the stars are cheaper too!

yes I'm going for black out lining and a black out roller blind underneath. The stars fabric seems heavy enough for this but not seen CK in the flesh and did wonder if it would be too thin...

Re £££, I'm getting them from an online curtain company and they come out at £220 inc. fabric and lining and delivery, or £280 for the dinosaurs.

Do you think thats steep? I'm inclined to think not as usually I make my own, and the fabric/lining/tape etc alone would come to £100. I just don't have the time this year. They are floor length curtains on a big window.

I don't think it sounds too steep.

The only way of doing to cheaper would be to buy cheap plain curtains and then add a band of the stars fabric (may be down the edge where the curtains meet) to decorate it - if you are handy with the sewing machine.

Thanks everyone. I'm happy to pay that as I usually make mine and that's how much I'd like to charge if I was making them for someone else!

I prefer the stars too!

I love the stars - I've got a nearly 4 yr old boy and would definately still choose those for him (though I have got him a pencil case in the CK dino print for Christmas!).
