Brick built sheds

At the end of our new garden (moving very soon!) there is a very big wooden shed that has seen better days. We would need to replace it and was wondering about replacing it with a brick built one instead.
In this house we have 3 brick outhouses and they are very useful and obviously more longstanding that wood.

Plus my BIL is a bricky so could get him to build it cheap :)

Is this something that would need planning permission?

Go to the planning portal.

It may do! It depends on a variety of things - strangely whether it is brick or timber has no effect on whether pp is required or not (it may have implications for building regs though).
It depends on the size and location of hte structure. There are greater restrictions in Conservation Areas or Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty etc. Different rules apply if the house is Listed. Check here
www.planningportal.gov.uk/permission/commonprojects/outbuildings/miniguide and also give hte local Council to check whether there are any specific restrictions relating to that particular building eg new builds sometimes have their permitted development rights restricted.
