Conservatory roof blinds

Can anyone recommend a company that supplies conservatory roof blinds please? They need to be electric as it's quite high. It's absolutely blindingly bright!

We had a quote from Thomas Sanderson about 8 years ago which came in at £19k.

It was actually considerably cheaper to replace the entire conservatory with a specially coated self-cleaning glass to reduce glare and heat gain in summer and also reduce heat loss in winter. (I think it was Pilkington activ.) So that's what we did and we've never regretted doing so.

Good lord. That is so expensive! I suspect it cost less the that to build. Anyone else? please!

The price was bumped up by the motors - you need one for each pane of glass in the roof. From what I remember, it was about £500 per motor - and we had 20 panes, I think.

Perhaps you could get some sort of translucent blinds - then you could leave them there all the time and do away with the need for motors. If you scroll down to the bottom of the page you can see a picture of the sort of thing I mean (I'm sure you could get something similar but nicer.)

Are you sure you need electric? I think I've opened our blinds maybe twice since they were installed. They are high, but we have a long pole which is used to open them. From memory ours were about 2.5k to install, and it's a big conservatory (a local guy though - the nationals were much more).

You can have solar inserts inserted into the roof which will cut down on the glare. They're thin strips which are slid into the roof.
