What do you think if a house comes up for sale that just been bought 2 years ago?

Actually, 2 of them in the same road, both were bought in 2011 and both came on the market in mid-2013.
I wonder if there is something wrong with those houses but obviously cannot ask directly.
Not to mention that both of them try to sell with profits (be thankful if you can recoup the buying cost).

I am selling myself after 4 years of ownership, have never settled in my house despite of everyone complimenting on it.
(silly reason to sell but here you are!)

Is it necessary a red flag if the house was only bought recently and now is back for sale, or perhaps sold several times in the last few years?

Any opinions appreciated.

I don't think you can read anything into there being a double bed in each bedroom. It could mean anything from "my husband snores like a freight train" to "we have a lot of house guests".

Leopoldina

We're currently in High Wycombe. I'm sure it's very nice for lots of people but I have never been happy here. DH wasn't so sure about moving back to London (he's a forriner and used to lots of space but he agreed to the move a few weeks ago. I have been like this Grin ever since.

Belsize Park is gorgeous but ££££.

In our old house we had a double bed in every bedroom before we had DS even though it was a 5bed house.
We had moved from 2 houses into 1 so had lots of spare furniture - which proved useful when everybody decided to come and stay at once!
We only got rid of one when we swapped for kids furniture

You should ask, as if its a reason such as noisy neighbours, and kind of friction at all, the seller is duty bound to tell you. If they don't tell you you can sue them. I'm sure there was a section in my solicitors report about it.

They are lots of reasons though, down sizing, bigger place, divorce, job move- they can say anything but if it is proved you asked and weren't told of any potential problems, the seller is in trouble.

That's one of the reasons not to go to the authorities re anything- you have to state you have done that when selling, even if in the end its not the reason you move!

specialsubject · 06/11/2013 18:52

I would ask for a reason, and if the seller was not forthcoming I would walk away.

been there, done that. And the house didn't sell.

If they're moving because there's something wrong with the house / neighbourhood / schools etc, they're not going to tell you that. they'll say something like 'we're moving due to work - DH has got a job elsewhere so we have to move'. They'll omit to say DH looked into getting a different job elsewhere to enable them to move away!!

Do you have small DCs? Maybe you could attend the local toddler group for a couple of sessions and ask casual questions about the area to get a feel for the lie of the land and / or specific streets. Or visit the nearest corner shop or pub for the same purpose.

I'm so with you, RatHammock, too. Same thing with not returning to the old posh area now that i'm single (lucky you have a good DH!), but...I'm looking at the suburbs which, while I was away for less than 2yrs, have ALL gone up in price . Nevertheless I'm moving, with any luck, as I need london regardless of many drawbacks.

When I'm selling I'll just say that I need to relocate again , and yes I WILL be trying to profit, I spent money on the extrenal building works as well as a few touches inside the flat, and it's not me who dictates the local prices, they've risen - thankfully!

Haven't considered Willesden though - if you know specific pleasant/promising parts, please pm me. From what I saw it was dull streets inbetween very congested main roads, lacks greenery really.
