If you had a pale blue kitchen & white worktops

What colour floor would you choose?
How about walls?

I've chosen my units (F&B Pale Blue or Skylight) possibly with a darker island.
Worktops with be Silestone that looks like Carrera.

DH wants limestone, but I'm wondering if it will all be too pale & wishy-washy?

I would have an oak floor and white walls .Clean looking and calming.

I'd be tempted by slate floors I think. Big flagstones would be nice if budget allowed.

Thank you.
I have oak now so would like something different.
What so I need to know about slate? Does it need sealing, can it be used with UFH & does it chip?

Colour aside , I would not have limestone. We had it in a bathroom once and ended up taking it out and replacing with ceramic tiles. It is porous I think and even when treated it does need regular maintenance to keep it looking good.
Just my experience - things may have moved on since mine .

poppy thank you, that's the sort of thing I need to know. Did it get water marks? I'm poor at household maintenance..

Yes it did , and anything oily , and just general dirt stopped coming out ofter a while. So when we were doing our kitchen I wouldn't even contemplate it with the kind of stuff that might get dropped on it . We have gone for a ceramic tile which sounds a bit crap but there are some lovely ones - I think ours is some sort of treated reconstituted volcanic stone. (Or thats what the marketing stuff says Smile ) . I could pm you the details . Anyway anything we looked at I made sure it wasn't porous.
That said I do know someone with limestone in a kitchen but they have a man come once a year to professionally renovate it which sounds messy and expensive to me

We are hoping to get a similar kitchen and have oak floors that we are keeping.

P.s. Where did you get your kitchen from?

Eastwickwitch · 07/11/2013 06:55

After endless faffing & too many quotes we are going for a local joiner. If you are in SW I can give details. 2nd choice would've been Neptune.
