Swapping the front of a plug socket

Is this easy to do?

Have just had new kitchen and would have preferred brushed aluminium fronts on sockets.

But we have had the glass splashback fitted so backs of sockets are underneath if you get what I mean. Can the front face still be switched or are these complete unit ie face only fits the back it was fitted with?

The white plastic ones just look so cheap and spoil the effect. Should have sorted this all before getting glass fitted but didn't think...

Thanks

Usually easy as standard size. Two screws hold the faceplate in place. They are usually a ring, so two wires at rear (2x live, 2x neutral, 2x earth). Sometimes there may be 3, meaning a spur is going off to a socket. Sometimes only one, meaning it is a spur socket.

Best to turn off ALL power before unscrewing the front and make sure no one in the house turns power back on.

Try replacing just one of them, so you get to know what you are dealing with.

Yes, turn the power off at the fuse box, and unscrew the front. It's best to have the new one there so you can remember which wires go into which screws but it's similar to wiring a plug.
I've got 2 to replace in DD1's bedroom because she has managed to damage the fronts of them.
