Sydenham - what's Lowrie Park Avenue really like?

If you live in the area, or even better, in this street, can you tell me please whether it's noisy? It seems like a wide and potenatially busy road connecting two major motorway-type roads, but on google street it looks like not many cars there. Is it noisy and busy especially in the mornings/evenings? It does look nice and green and houses are back from the road but generally I would neber live in a noisy street.
Just thinking whether I should look at a place to buy there, and need to move quickly if so. Thanks!

Hello, we live close by, to be honest everywhere round here is busy in the mornings and evenings and that road is quite useful. However our road is smaller and not nearly as useful but people drive down it so fast it's noisy and dangerous in another way. So maybe it's better to know what your getting in terms if traffic. Double glazing helps massively with noise too.

It's a lovely road though and I like the area!

I wouldn't call either of the roads it connects 'motorway style'! It's a nice area, and the road is wide enough to make the traffic seem lighter than it is, and it's not that bad anyway. I'd live on it happily.

thank you for replies! Yes, Sid, not quite motorways, but the road that leads to the Syd tube is very busy, even on google view. Well, as it turns out this is hte least of my concerns. I've already thought that the road is wide and the houses are back (and this one is double-glazed) - just confirmed by your posts, Rootvegetables. NOw of course the first viewing block on Sat is completely booked up, and 25 people viewing , so I doubt that I will even reach the viewing stage on monday, as prob there will be an offer.
How do you ever buy in popular london suburbs?! (and I'm a good buyer at that)

Where are you trying to buy? Have you registered with all likely estate agents? That bit of SE London is in a mad bubble now because of the ELL and things are going for way over asking price.

beaglesaresweet · 28/10/2013 18:00

looking at Penge east and sydenham, as they at least are cheaper than Honor oak or Forest Hill. Registered with one in Syd so far, as I'm considering all sorts of areas, e.g. bromley and beckenham - wherever you look it seems to be madness. I should have started looking before the 5% deposit became available just.

Registering is the key to getting in there, although it sounds like you need to get down there and work out your preferred area(s). Once the agents know they've got what some of them nauseatingly call a 'hot buyer' they'll start tipping you off to new stuff.
