How much (on average) is kitchen fitting?

We're having a painted, solid wood kitchen from Pineland in our new extension. It's an L-shape with an island. The quote I've had for fitting from the fitters they recommend is just under £1k. Does this sound reasonable? I'm tempted to go with them as obviously they're used to fitting solid wood kitchens and Pineland wouldn't recommend them if they didn't think they'd do a good job with their cabinets!
But is it a fair price, do you think?
I'm asking my building firm to quote us for the fitting as well.

Thanks.

Sounds a good price to me, but worth getting other quotes. We recently paid £1400 from an independent. Obviously depends on size of kitchen though, and what else they plan to do. We ended up having to get extra work done (at additional cost) so ended up being pleased I'd gone with a builders as they could do the additional work, whereas a kitchen fitter may not have been able to.

It's already assembled so I think that helps! The L - section is about 3m x 3m

Good point about the builder being able to do any additional work that crops up.

They do say a lot of people install the kitchens themselves...don't know if I'm brave enough for that!!

I've just been quoted £760 to fit a 4x4m kitchen but that's without doing the electrics/plumbing.

You usually get better standards of electrical and plumbing work if you have them done by an electrician and a plumber, preferably after pulling out the old units and before putting in the new.

Chalk the plan accurately on the floor and walls.

Yes, just to confirm PigletJohn's comments - the electrician/plumber used by the builder are doing up to the first fix, then the joiner is coming in to fit the kitchen, and the builder assures me the electrician/plumber will be back to finish off. I'm a little apprehensive that they will be difficult to get hold of but I am keeping the faith so far.

Can you let us have a picture of the fitted kitchen once it is fitted?

Of course! :)
