hi I am a single mum to a 15 year old. working and claiming tax credits.
I am currently living in a 3 bedroom house so am looking to downsize as my older daughter no longer lives at home. i do not get help with rent or council tax but do get working tax and child tax.

i have a friend who owns his own 3 bed house and lives there on his own and he has offered to let my son and 1 move in there.

is this an option? we get on well but how would this affect my tax credits?

we are not a couple we are friends so we do socialise in the same group of friends.
i would pay him rent and share bills . council tax, internet, gas , elec water etc.

would tax credits see that as us being a couple even tough we are not

thanks for the help x

I can see why the authorities might be a bit suspicious but it can't be a unique situation. Could a group such as Gingerbread give you any advice on the way to make it all above board?
